2 Normative reference The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced in this document and are indispensable for its application. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3, Specifications for particular types of winding wires – Part 0-2: General requirements – Enamelled rectangular copper wire 3 Terms, definitions, general notes, and appearance 3.1 Terms and definitions Subclause 3.1 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 3.2 General notes 3.2.1 Methods of test Subclause 3.2.1 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. In case of inconsistencies between IEC 6031 7-0-2: 201 3 and this standard, the latter shall prevail. 3.2.2 Winding wire Class 240 is a thermal class that requires a minimum temperature index of 240 and heat shock temperature of at least 260 °C. The temperature in degrees Celsius corresponding to the temperature index is not necessarily that at which it is recommended that the wire be used, and this will depend on many factors, including the type of equipment involved.
3.3 Appearance Subclause 3.3 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 4 Dimensions Clause 4 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 5 Electrical resistance Clause 5 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 6 Elongation Clause 6 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 7 Springiness Clause 7 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 8 Flexibility and adherence Clause 8 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. For 8.2, the wire for the adherence test shall be stretched by 1 0 %. 9 Heat shock Clause 9 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. The minimum heat shock temperature shall be 260 °C. 10 Cut-through Clause 1 0 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 11 Resistance to abrasion Test inappropriate. 12 Resistance to solvents Clause 1 2 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. 13 Breakdown voltage Clause 1 3 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. The elevated temperature shall be 240 °C.
14 Continuity of insulation Test inappropriate. 15 Temperature index Clause 1 5 of IEC 6031 7-0-2:201 3 applies. The minimum temperature index shall be 240. 16 Resistance to refrigerants Test inappropriate. 17 Solderability Test inappropriate. 18 Heat or solvent bonding Test inappropriate. 19 Dielectric dissipation factor The dielectric dissipation factor tan δ shall not exceed 60 × 1 0 –4 at a frequency of 1 000 Hz. NOTE Test under consideration 20 Resistance to transformer oil Test appropriate, but no requirements specified. 21 Loss of mass Test appropriate, but no requirements specified. 23 Pin hole test Test inappropriate.
